North Fork Designer Showhouse

Commencing on August 14th, the North Fork Designer Show House will once again open its doors. For more than three weeks, the North Fork will be treated to fun, food, and flair.

The idea to do this came from seven friends who got together one day, and realized they all wanted to do some type of event for the community. They wanted to create an event that blended together charity, beauty, and the notion of North Fork locality. Kate DiGregorio, from The Corcoran Group, is one of the committee members in charge of running the event and says, “We knew there was one successful in Jamesport years ago, but there hadn’t been one on the North Fork for a while. We thought this would be a great way to generate money for the charities we support.”

Numerous people will be involved in the show, hosted at the manse of the Cutchogue Presbyterian Church. Kate says, “There are thirteen different spots in the original house, and this year we are incorporating four new spots, including the barns in the back, and we now have people doing the gardens.” Previous designers from last year will be returning, while at the same time there will be plenty of new faces. The challenge for everyone, however, will be recreating and designing from scratch their selected room in the house. Everything will be redone; there is nothing repetitive from last year.

The previous Designer Show Houses have each been a smashing success. So much so, that they’ve had multiple requests from people who are beyond eager to participate in this year’s. From the designers, to the volunteers, to the community at large, Kate says, “It is amazing how many people have come out to help.” All of this collaboration will ensure that this is a great opportunity that will thrive and flourish.

One of the most exciting aspects of this year’s Show House is that in addition to many of the same charities benefitting from last year, a scholarship program for the local schools will be added. Kate says, “We wanted to start a scholarship for a student who either does community service, or is interested in interior design.”

Overall, Kate hopes that the people who attend just have an amazing experience. Whether it’s by looking at different designs if you’re renovating your house, talking to designers about fun ideas, or simply feeling truly great about supporting the community.

The opening night gala on August 14th is open to all. From 6PM-9PM you’ll get to experience a house tour, a garden party and enjoy plenty of free flowing food and wine as you listen to superb musical entertainment. Tickets are $100 in advance, and $125 at the door. With the Corcoran Group as the main sponsor (and their design team helping with advertising), The Suffolk Times as the media sponsor, northforker.com as the opening gala’s sponsor, North Fork Real Estate Showcase a promotional sponsor, Touch of Venice catering, and even Marcari Vineyards providing the wine, there is nowhere else you’ll want to be from August 14th through September 7th.
