The weekend of September 19th and 20: 26th Annual Merlot Classic & the 9th Annual North Fork Foodie Tour.
On Saturday the 19th, head to Lenz for the Merlot Classic–get tickets in advance–and taste some of the world’s finest merlots with a selection of artisanal cheese. Experience the many flavors this classic rich red wine offers, including wines from every major and some lesser known regions of the world. 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
On Sunday the 20th, explore North Fork farms via the North Fork Foodie Tour. It’s a self-guided, behind the scenes tour of nearly 20 farms, vineyards and food artisans. Special tours, talks & experiences for ticket holders; family fun. 10 am – 4 pm
The next weekend is Greenport’s big festival, the 26th Annual Maritime Festival. Friday night is the Land and Sea Gala, followed by two days of city-wide festival highlighting Greenport’s Maritime history and present. Food, drink, craft, music, exhibits, and special events like a parade, a pirate breakfast and much more.
The weekend after that, October 3 and 4, brings two more don’t miss events. The larger one is on Saturday; the First Annual Mushroom Cookoff, featuring the Cutchogue-grown East End Mushrooms and the culinary talents of some 40 local restaurants. Wash down the deliciousness with Macari Wine, Greenport Harbor beer, all to benefit two great charities. Noon-4 pm.
On Sunday, don’t miss the inaugural dinner of Noah’s Harvest Wine Pairing Dinner Series, featuring the wines of Bedell and dishes custom-crafted for the vintages by Chef Noah, featuring locally grown ingredients. Details at chefnoahs.com
