Farmers of the Year

One of our favorite North Fork farms is getting some much-deserved recognition in the industry. Fred and Karen Lee, owners of Sang Lee Farms in Peconic, have been named Farmers of the Year by Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY). At the annual winter conference in Saratoga Springs this past January, the husband and wife team were honored for their commitment to organic farming.

“Certified organic since 2007, the Lees have intentionally shifted their farming practices, distribution, and product line to focus on direct sales of more than 100 varieties of specialty vegetables through farmers markets, a farm stand, and a CSA,” a press release stated. Learn more about the farmers behind your food at Sang Lee Farms and their passion for growing the highest quality vegetables for their customers here.

NOFA-NY is a non?profit organization providing programs and services to promote sustainable, local organic food and farming. Their coalition of farmers, gardeners, consumers and businesses join together to create a food system that’s ecologically sound and economically viable. Through education, certification, advocacy and other efforts, they promote organic food production, local marketing, and land stewardship.
