A Day On Shelter Island

Shelter Island is one of those rare gems not subject to the same summer traffic as the North Fork and the Hamptons thanks to its only access being by ferry or personal boat. Now that fall is here, it is even less populated but still so enjoyable. Here is our suggestion on spending the perfect day on Shelter Island.

Enjoy a cup of coffee and pain au chocolat on the back deck overlooking Dering Harbor at Marie Eiffel Market. Hike the trails of Mashomack Preserve with its 12 miles of coastline and acres of creeks, woodlands and fields. Visit the farmstand at Sylvester Manor and pick up fresh produce and colorful bouquets. Have a water view lunch at the Pridwin Hotel or get a bite to go from the Shelter Island Pharmacy. Walk along Shell Beach and discover the natural world. Finish your evening with a delicious meal highlighting the local bounty at Vine Street Café. Happy exploring!
