A Summer Day On Shelter Island

A SUMMER DAY ON SHELTER ISLAND

Just a short trip on the North Ferry from Greenport to Shelter Island takes you a world away. The Rock has plenty to explore and enjoy all summer long. Whether you drive on, take your bike, or even walk into the heart of town, there’s lots to do on a seemingly small island.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast and coffee at Marie Eiffel Market where you can sit on the back deck right on Dering Harbor and watch the Doughdishes drift in and out. Find a unique and eclectic collection of home furnishings, décor, and lighting at Marika’s. Browse the stacks of used books, from vintage collectibles to signed first editions, at Black Cat Books. Sip craft brews at Shelter Island Craft Brewery and play giant Jenga. Learn about Shelter Island’s history at the Shelter Island Historical Society and participate in one of their many programs. Go for a swim in Peconic Bay before walking across the street to lounge and sip a refreshing cocktail at Sunset Beach.
