What’s Happening On The North Fork …

New season, new things happening on the North Fork. We’re gearing up to give our landscapes and gardens new life, restaurants are planning new openings and new talent is popping up at old favorites, and agents across the East End are driving the area forward as a desirable destination for both first and second homes. As we eagerly await consistently warmer temperatures, we are thankful for new things to look forward to in the coming weeks. We also congratulate all of the real estate agents that have made headlines recently for their various industry achievements. Happy spring!

Thomas McCloskey Team: Gold Award and Top Producers
Last month, Douglas Elliman licensed associate real estate broker Thomas McCloskey and his team received the Douglas Elliman Gold Award, which includes the top 8% of agents and teams in the company, for 2018 and was the top producing team in the Mattituck office. Before having his own team in place, McCloskey has garnered these same accolades as an individual agent in 2016 and 2017. “I attribute the success to a few things,” he says. “Working in a company like Douglas Elliman and for managers, Karla Dennehy and Valerie White, that foster a collaborative environment while being in a highly competitive industry; having the best people, Katie Schimpf and Maura Grimes, on my team that value serving the customers’ needs and providing the best client service possible; and consistency in marketing, advertising, and making an effort to keep my clients always moving forward towards their goals here on the North Fork.”

Jill Dunbar Receives President’s Circle Award
Being in the top 11% of Douglas Elliman Real Estate has earned licensed associate real estate broker Jill Dunbar the coveted President’s Circle Award. Working out of the Greenport office, she has been a top producer for years, connecting people with properties that are the ideal fit for them. Her deep knowledge and experience in the area have led to her many successes in real estate over the years. “I have received the President’s Circle award at Douglas Elliman, which is given to the top 11% of agents company wide,” she shares. “I am thrilled to have earned this corporate acknowledgement. Working for the top real estate agency on the North Fork gives me a boost. Working with great buyers and sellers on the East End not only catalyzed this reward, but also gives me enormous professional satisfaction.”

Spring Restaurant Openings and Moves
The North Fork’s burgeoning restaurant scene is adding a few new names to the roster of dining destinations this spring. Though opening details are still being worked out, these sure-to-be hotspots plan to open their doors before the summer season. In Greenport, Ellen’s on Front will take over the former Salamander’s restaurant with chef Jennie Werts at the helm. Werts also operates the popular Jennie’s at Drossos popup, which debuted in 2017. Terra by American Beech will replace Basso in Stirling Square, offering a similar concept as a tapas bar. Northport Italian restaurant Maroni Cuisine, known for their popular Hot Pots, is set to open in Southold in the former Jeni’s Main Street Grill space. Green Hill Restaurant Group, which opened Greenhill Kitchen in Greenport last year and took over Industry Standard, will open a high-end seafood restaurant in the former Deep Water Bar and Grille, also in Greenport. Chef Stephan Bogardus recently left the North Fork Table and Inn to take over the kitchen at The Halyard in Greenport. Replacing him at the Southold restaurant is executive chef Brian Wilson, formerly of Restaurant Montmartre in Washington DC. Thankfully, we’ll have all summer to try these great North Fork spots!
