It’s Time to Eat Through Those Summer-Only Spots on the North Fork
The sun is out. The water is at its bluest. It’s time to catch some rays, spread out a beach blanket, and let the world melt away. But wait! Summer is also the elusive time when seasonal North Fork restaurants reemerge from their winter slumber. What spots have come back from hibernation? Food trucks, seafood spots, and centennial favorites: some of our preferred North Fork dining spots are all back in our rotation, and we’re ready to get dining. So open up your calendars and get ready to eat through the season. Summer is just getting started, and we are ready for all the delicious meals ahead of us. Let’s dig in.

The recently relocated Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market is now open on Carpenter Street, in Greenport. The iconic space, where visitors to the town can indulge in Peconic Bay oysters, clams, and other seafaring delights, is open daily in the summer months. Although the menu isn’t listed, guests of the restaurant can bet on bivalves that reflect the season (and the ever-fresh bounty of Long Island’s waters). The restaurant keeps slim hours in the off-season, but a new space and expanded summer hours make this place the dining destination of summer 2025.
Claudio’s is back in April for the summer season. The new news this year? The iconic restaurant is expanding—to the Bahamas! Although North Forkers will need to hop on a plane to catch their expansion, it may just be worth it. The restaurant has joined forces with Atlantis, on Paradise Island, for a pairing that can’t be beat. It’s island vibes with a North Fork twist, and this is definitely a marriage we can all get behind.

But for those who prefer to stay closer to home, the iconic century-plus-year-old spot will be up and running in time for Memorial Day Weekend—and this year, with a new name. After over 150 years, Claudio’s Tavern & Grill will reemerge as Charlie Boy, an Italian café that will be open all day. Crabby Jerry’s, the much-beloved clam shack on the docks, will also get a rebranding: this year, the restaurant will open as Common Country East, a sibling restaurant to East Hampton’s Common Ground East.
Nothing says summer with more conviction than standing outside with a lobster roll. Every summer, we wait—along with everyone else—for the signal that The North Fork Food Truck has reopened for the year. Well, that time has finally arrived. Welcome back, Food Truck. You’ve been missed. Grab a Big Grin Burger and a roll and some crinkle fries and tuck into the good life. You can eat right in the picturesque lot or take yours to one of the Fork’s local beaches. The choice is, as always, up to you. But don’t sleep on the house-made Italian ices or the fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, which are about as good as you can imagine. (And while you’re there, make a dinner reservation for later, at The North Fork Table & Inn, another Southold can’t-miss. You won’t regret it.)
