Founded in 1944, the Oysterponds Historical Society celebrates and shares North Fork culture and heritage by preserving, exhibiting and interpreting the history of the Orient and East Marion communities, and its place in national history. For 75 years the organization has shared a collection of art, manuscripts, and historical objects donated by local residents in a campus of historic buildings and green spaces. The collection they have amassed is a tribute to the history of the area and founding families dating back to the 17th century. On Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. they will countdown to summer with a special cocktail party at The Halyard in Greenport.
The summer preview party will feature hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer that will be served in the restaurant looking out over Long Island Sound. Open to both members and nonmembers, this North Fork shindig is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Oysterponds community and meet the new executive director, Marianne Howard. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online here.
