Wading River’s newest restaurant, North Tavern, is open for business. The former Amarelle space has found new life with this casual restaurant that takes comfort food to a new level. It’s a family affair – the restaurant was opened by Carol Wendelken and her husband, chef Drew Wendelken, his brother Brian Wendelken and his wife Denise. The menu features family style pub fare with a little twist.
Try the filet mignon stack with filet mignon, meatloaf, and crispy potato with blue cheese or pan seared sea scallops with warm potato salad and pea puree. Vegetable pasta made of zucchini is another dinner option. For dessert, try the “new school” banana split ice cream cake with caramelized banana, ice cream and all the treats or Diane’s crumble crumb cake with homemade crumb cake, espresso ice cream, vanilla sauce and chocolate espresso.
