Step into the North Fork’s hottest new “Tasting Room” where the elegance of the 1920s meets modern sophistication
Oenophiles rejoice! A stunning new tasting room has opened, nestled in the scenic heart of the North Fork in Jamesport. Main & Mill House offers a picturesque escape into Long Island’s rich wine culture with 66 acres of vines located nearby Main & Mill Vineyards in Mattituck, New York.
Main & Mill House recently opened to the public this summer with a completely reimagined Main Road property that last played host to Sherwood House tasting room in Jamesport. The ownership team behind Main & Mill are the über popular Croteaux and Rose Hill vineyards in Southold and Mattituck. “Welcome to our third gem: Main & Mill House,” shares the team. “Step into our new tasting room, where the elegance of the 1920s meets modern sophistication, designed exclusively for those who seek an unparalleled, high-end experience on the North Fork.”
Engage with a story that harmonizes tradition with sophistication, inviting you to become an integral part of a tale that blends the timeless heritage of the North Fork with modern opulence and elegance. Main & Mill Vineyard’s interior is a thoughtful blend of the old and the new, reflecting both the vineyard’s agricultural roots and its forward-thinking approach to winemaking.
The space has been updated throughout, and for all seasons. The interior design of Main & Mill House perfectly embodies the elegance that defines the North Fork wine region. Designers Brooke Cantone and John Mazur of LUMBER+Salt created the stunning space. LUMBER+Salt in Jamesport is a renowned treasure trove of antiquities and design specializing in creating a raw and refined aesthetic that speaks to both a preservation of the past and a sustainability for the future. They share, “We wanted to create a space that feels a little Beverly Hills Hotel, meets Chateaux Marmont, meets Fifth Avenue Hotel on the North Fork.”
Stepping into the tasting room, visitors are immediately struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere, which combines the charm of the original 1890s farmhouse with a contemporary aesthetic. The blue velvet couches anchoring the marble fireplace make it cozy and home-like, paired with a regal bar that was created from architectural salvage from the Italian Embassy. The rooms are filled with many iconic landmark hotel nods throughout.
The vineyard also offers a carefully curated selection of light fare designed to complement the wines. The menu typically includes caviar & tater tots, pigs in a blanket and a variety of artisanal cheeses, charcuterie boards, fresh bread, and seasonal produce sourced from local farms. The focus on local, fresh ingredients in their food offerings reflects the vineyard’s commitment to sustainability and community, creating an experience that is as authentic as it is delicious!
To complement the wine tasting experience this property is also home to the fine arts gallery, William Ris Gallery, and quiet luxury fashion brand thesalting hosted by LUMBER+Salt. So much to enjoy!
