This Friday, June 7 kicks off the Village of Greenport’s art gallery walks, which will take place on the first Friday of each month now through December. ArtistCindy Pease Roe is joining this season, kicking it off with fellow North Fork Art Collective members Chris Hamilton and Kara Hoblin. Her gallery at Hanff’s Boatyard offers a unique historical perspective into Greenport’s working waterfront. These three artists in particular share a common love and passion for the preservation, education, and protection of the marine environment. Cindy often creates pieces from marine debris collected from local beaches in an effort to marry art with awareness, highlighting the burgeoning problem of plastic pollution in our oceans. From 6 to 9 p.m. this first Friday evening, guests can enjoy bites from Lombardi’s Love Lane Market and sips from Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. and Bedell Cellars.
Other Greenport art galleries will also be open late on these evenings, allowing visitors strolling through the village to view various works across all mediums.
