We love spending time on Shelter Island. Nestled between the North and South Forks, it is its own special place. Because it requires a ferry or personal boat to get there, the summer traffic is still bearable. One of our favorite summer events are the Wednesday night cookouts at the Pridwin Hotel.
Enjoy an all-you-can-eat menu with barbecue favorites like burgers, hotdogs, ribs, and grilled corn on the cob. Seafood is a must of course. Try steamed clams and mussels and grilled fish. There is a variety of salads and desserts to enjoy as well, in addition beer on tap, wine, lemonade, and iced tea. These cookouts fill up fast and reservations are strongly recommended to secure your space. Travel by boat – dock space is first come, first serve – or by land. The weekly events go on through Labor Day.
