Lavender By The Bay in East Marion

L

If you haven’t been to one of the North Fork’s most popular agricultural attractions, what are you waiting for? Lavender by the Bay in East Marion, which recently opened a second outpost in Calverton, attracts swarms of visitors each year, especially now that they are in the tail end of their bloom. Soon, harvest will begin where lovers of lavender can take home fresh and dried bunches, potted plants, and a number of products from candles to lotions, cookies to marshmallows, satchels and more.

Rated by Country Living as one of the top six stunning lavender farms to visit in America, Lavender by the Bay has been a family owned and operated farm since 2002. It began as a small family hobby that grew to be a 17-acre farm with more than 80,000 plants. Visitors can walk through the rows of lavender, which are particularly fragrant now that they are in bloom, seven days per week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with an entry fee of $7-9). For those that want the lavender experience from afar, the farm’s products can be found at many Green Markets in New York City year-round.
