NFRES: As one of the more seasoned real estate agents on the North Fork, what is it that sets you apart from the others?
Donielle Cardinale: My family roots run 100 years and four generations deep in real estate. Our roots also run deep on the North Fork, dating back to the 1940’s. I am a very active member of the community and its various organizations. I have a sincere love and knowledge of the North Fork and the people who love it. In addition, I have a background in construction, interior decorating and design, which equips me with the creative knowledge, insight and contacts to prepare your house for sale or help you turn a new house into the home of your dreams.

NFRES: How would you describe your selling style?
DC: Purchasing the home you will build memories in or passing that home on to the next family when you sell, is more than just business. Therefore, in order to forge a successful partnership, you need to team up with an agent that understands you and can connect with you on a personal level. I do not consider myself to be a ‘salesperson’. I am a people person. I approach the process by getting to know the people I am working with, their lives, their goals and their needs. Sometimes that means helping them make a decision not to sell or buy at that time, but I don’t look at what I do as being about getting the next deal. For me, it’s about building relationships based on integrity and respect. I believe that is the primary reason that over 80% of my business is completely referral based. My clients become my friends.

NFRES: What is the best advice you can give a 2nd homebuyer when searching for a vacation home on the North Fork?
DC: The advice I give to my clients as they set out to purchase a second home varies along with the needs and desires of each buyer and what they are looking to accomplish. I suggest they really think about where their comfort level is on purchase price. Although some people take pleasure in the creative process of reinventing a home to make it feel like their own, you also want to get clear about how much you are willing to take on in renovations. Generally people are looking to purchase a second home to create a place to escape and unwind. The last thing you want to do is create pressure.

NFRES: What do you both like to do on the North Fork…after selling real estate of course?
DC: I truly feel that I live in Paradise here on the North Fork. We are only about 90 miles from the great city of New York and yet this is a whole other world with so much to do. When I am not working, you are likely to catch me, running around with my two amazing kids, riding horses with my daughter, out on the boat with my family, listening to live music at a winery or stopping at a farm stand, meeting new people at the many great events held by numerous organizations, or anywhere I can enjoy great local food and laughter with friends and family.
