EARTH DAY EVENTS

There are many things that make the North Fork a special place – beautiful beaches along the Sound, bays, and harbors, preserved open space and farmland, miles of trails, and overall natural beauty. This unique area needs help staying in the condition that attracts so many, and for Earth Day various groups are hosting events to honor it and keep it beautiful.

Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, Group for the East End, and other nonprofits are joining for a beach cleanup at Breakwater Beach in Mattituck this Monday, April 22 at 9 a.m. Bedell Cellars and Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing will host an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 20 at noon with wine tasting and eco-friendly activities for the family. This takes place at the Tap Room at Corey Creek. The North Fork Environmental Council’s annual Earth Day 5K Walk/Run will begin on Sunday, April 28 at 9 a.m. at Indian Island County Park. You can do your own thing for Earth Day by simply picking up trash on beach or trail walks, recycling, and opting for reusable bags and water bottles. Go green!
