DOne of our favorite spots to hang and enjoy a simple but delicious meal is The North Fork Shack in Southold. They reopened at the beginning of this month to serve up inspired takes on casual dishes from both land and sea for lunch and dinner service. Here’s what you can enjoy at the communal tables or for takeout:
Start with cod croquettes with romesco sauce, vegetable spring rolls with Thai-chili sauce, or a cup of hot New England clam chowder. Staples include the fish sandwich with Old Bay aioli, SLT with crispy shiitake mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a garlic-lemon aioli, and of course, a burger. Every Thursday there is a burger special with fries and a drink – beer or soft drink – for $15. We like the tacos and tostadas with pulled chicken, marinated skirt steak, or Cajun fish. Homemade cookies and cupcakes that look almost too pretty to eat are a sweet finish. With a constantly evolving menu, rotating weekly specials are also worth a try.
