This 4th of July, Stock Up for Your Party at These Local North Fork Spots
Plan the bash of the season at your North Fork home with a little — or a lot — of help from some of our North Fork friends. From the food to the drinks to the fresh-from-the-ground produce, we’ve ticked off all the boxes for what you’ll need to get the holiday party going. We’ve got everything but the fireworks, so shop early, shop often, and shop local this 4th of July, and dig into the best summer soiree yet.
Every 4th of July party, of course, is a little sweeter with just-picked corn-on-the-cob. Sep’s Farm, in East Marion, is a necessary visit for anyone planning to boil or broil the sweetest ears on the North Fork this holiday. In addition to corn, the farm grows a vast array of different types of produce, so grab some just in time for guests to arrive. The farm store at 8 Hands Farm, in Cutchogue, offers grass-fed meats, sausages, and charcuterie, as well as fresh eggs and pastured chickens. The store also carries breads, pastas, and prepared foods that come in handy for a large-format feast for friends and family.
Take advantage of the online ordering capability at John Fraser’s North Fork Table & Inn — at their Food Truck, that is. This casual Southold staple can help bear some of the burden of your 4th of July soiree. Place your order before you head out and bring back tasty snacks for you and plenty of your nearest and dearest. The truck’s epic lobster rolls are a must-order for anyone planning on bringing the true spirit of the 4th to the party. So hop online (and dodge the line) just in time for this year’s festivities.
Add more seafood to your feast with a stop off at Southold’s legendary Southold Fish Market. Whether you’re looking to add a clam pie, enough chowder to feed a crowd, a few dozen Peconic Bay oysters, some sweet-as-candy scallops, or a handful of lobsters to your party menu, this market, which is open daily, has you covered. (And if you run out of lobster rolls, they have those, too—and they’re legendary.)
Make sure that no one goes thirsty by stocking up on all that’s good to drink, too. Vintage Mattituck is just one of many high-quality wine and spirits stores on the North Fork — and they deliver for free to all of the towns on the North Fork and to Shelter Island, as long as certain delivery minimums are met (minimums differ based on town). The store offers a diverse selection of pre-made cocktails, like the Fisher’s Island Lemonade, a canned drink that is the perfect complement to a warm weather party.
The Long Drink canned cocktail brand produces tasty and refreshing offerings, from their cranberry-flavored libation to their traditional, citrus-inflected version. The store also carries On the Rocks’ bottled cocktails, pre-mixed versions of some of the classics: margaritas, cosmopolitans, and old fashioneds. Thrill your party guests with a bartender who comes prepared. All you have to do is fill glasses with ice, pour directly from the bottle, and serve.
