Oysters on the North Fork

The world is your oyster… which may be especially true on the North Fork. Oysters are a great representation of what this area represents – history, aquaculture, supporting the local economy, adding to restaurant menus, tourism, shellfish industry, etc. It’s one of the many great reasons why people come here. The next time you’re in the mood for some oysters, check these three places that tout local shellfish on their menus:

Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market not only dishes out shuck-your-own oysters, they’re growers too. Inside or out of the little oyster shack try their revolving selection of fresh shellfish. They’ll shuck them for you too, if you so desire! A Lure Chowder House and “Oyster-ia” in Southold offers peaceful views of Peconic River in the set back and lively restaurant. Try a local selection of oysters chosen by the chef with cucumber verjus mignonette. Try oysters from the bay and ocean at Noah’s in Greenport, or treat yourself to their seafood tower for an assortment of raw bar goodies.
