In Orient, visit the Old Orchard Farm Store, established by Bob and Leslie Black in 1982, and now reopened in 2015. Featuring unique and beautiful antiques, original art, and vintage goods. Items include an oyster plate collection, large wooden whale carvings, and repurposed, upcycled furniture.
The picturesque Village of Greenport is known for its many trendy shops. From clothing and books to gourmet foods and candy, you can find it all at the fashionable boutiques along Front and Main Streets. On Front Street, stop at Greenport’s Not Just Bows, renovated in 2015 by new owner Gustavo Acero. View stylish hats, gloves, scarves, ponchos, handbags, jewelry, boots, and shoes for men, women, and children. Check out Vines and Branches, opened by Rita Winkler in 2012, featuring gourmet olive oils and vinegars. Offering a wide collection of specialty foods such as herbs, sea salts, and seasonings and an assortment of tapenades, soups, salsas, and dips. Enter The Market, a whole foods and organic eatery established in 1987. Specializing in a wide variety of organic produce, vitamins, personal care, and gluten free foods. Select from Holiday Gift Baskets offering locally featured jam, honey, and granola; personal care products; gourmet condiments; or a Wellness Basket of teas and Vitamin C. Pick up some new bestsellers at Burton’s Bookstore, owned by Scott Raulsome since 2014. Highlighting nautical books, local authors, and a great collection of children’s books. Explore Kharmah, owned for 20 years by Linda Gerien. Presenting comfortable women’s clothing made from natural materials such as linen, cotton, and bamboo. Also offering accessories and unique jewelry.

Head south on Main Street and discover Di Angela Leather, in business for about 25 years, owned by Patty Carlos. Featuring an assortment of women and men’s quality leather goods, including handbags, shoes, jackets, wallets, and gloves as well as jewelry. Browse in Verbena, owned since 2006 by Maureen Gonzalez. Offering fine gifts and home décor including jewelry, housewares, candles, and soaps. Then walk along the wharf and explore S.T. Preston & Son, established in 1880 by Samuel Truman Preston and owned by the Rowsom family since the 1950’s. Presenting a variety of nautical merchandise from jewelry to home décor.

Head north on Main Street and enjoy nostalgic candy, delightful chocolates, and unique gifts including picture frames, elegant jewelry, and fun accessories at Sweet Indulgences, owned for 23 years by Angela Oliveri-Deroski. Discover decorative Italian hand-painted ceramics and hand-blown Venetian glass at Doofpot, established in 1973 by Mary Ann Zovro and Jaap Hilbrand. The Times Vintage, opened in 2013 by Elizabeth Sweigart, is located in the 1909 Suffolk Times newspaper building. Featuring a large selection of vintage clothing for men and women, shoes, accessories, and jewelry. Also includes vintage furniture, vintage art, and vinyl records.

Head west to Cutchogue on Main Road and visit Revel North Fork, recently opened in June 2016, owned by Jennifer DiVello and her husband, Tom Hug. Featuring seasonal soy candles called “Suds & Muds” and ice cream called “The Ice Cream Patch” both made with local farm ingredients. In addition, find baby, youth, and adult local-themed apparel from the collection “North Fork Threads,” great local hand-painted signs, jewelry, and antiques known as “Vestige Vintage,” all in one shop.
Continue west to Mattituck’s quaint Love Lane. Indulge in fine chocolates and candies at Love Lane Sweet Shoppe, owned by Jackie Wilsberg since 2008, and order a gourmet basket of luscious chocolates. Lombardi’s Love Lane Market, opened in 2014 by Lauren Lombardi, is a gourmet specialty grocery. For the holidays they specialize in custom gift baskets that feature local North Fork purveyors and Artisanal imported Italian products. They also sell their award-winning all-natural jarred tomato sauce in six different varieties. Check out The Repurpose Project on Pike Street, opened in 2015 by Joanne Paluck. Specializing in vintage wood furniture, creating unique pieces using reclaimed and sustainable woods. Featuring home décor, antiques, and vintage pieces repurposed to give a new look and purpose.

While in Mattituck, stop by the Mattituck Shopping Plaza off Main Road and browse in Renee’s Mattituck, the premier fashion retailer on Long Island. Owned by William and Debra Gildersleeve, a third generation family-run business, offering men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, furniture, and accessories. Featuring contemporary and trendy fashions.

The North Fork has so many charming shops throughout its many hamlets. As you travel from town to town, also enjoy the lovely vineyards for some great music and wine tastings. Dine at a fine restaurant specializing in “farm to table” fare. Visit the splendid farmstands for some homemade pies and fresh fruits and vegetables. Take your time to savor the scenic beauty of the North Fork, while finding some wonderful gifts for the holidays.
